History of St. Martins, Pompano Beach

Under the episcopacy of the Rt. Reverend Henry I. Louttit, the Bishop of the Diocese of South Florida, approval was granted to establish a mission in Pompano Beach. Under the initial leadership of the Reverend Mark T. Carpenter, Rector of All Saints, Fort Lauderdale, and the dedication of a few faithful and courageous Episcopalians, the worship and work of the Lord had begun. On January 2, 1951, St. Martin’s became an organized mission in Pompano Beach.
In the late 1950s, the congregation faced rapid growth and the expansion into a larger facility was required. The nave we worship in today was dedicated on February 25, 1962 to meet the projected growth of St. Martin’s. March 2, 1948 A meeting is held in Pompano Beach home of Mr. and Mrs. Horace P. Robinson with Reverend Father John K. Coolidge, then Rector of All Saints parish.
