FAITH
SEEKING JOURNEY is a weekly course
designed to teach us about the Episcopal church and what makes
us who we are.
It
was created by Stephen Zimmerman and supported by his book. The course
is divided into four sections - the Inquiry Period, the Formation Period,
the Enlightenment Period, and the Initiation Period. Although the course
is closed to members at this time, another session will begin in September.
This course is a pre-requisite to confirmation or holding a Vestry
position. If you would like more information on this or any other
course, please
contact
us
and
someone will
contact
you.
THE
MORNING PRAYER OFFICE is
conducted each Tuesday morning starting at
10:15 in the auditorium on the John Knox Village campus. Everyone is
welcome to
join this community of prayer.

EUCHARISTIC
VISITOR MINISTRY is made up of members of St. Martins who
have attended specific training who are licensed by the church
to take the
consecrated host out to the members who are unable to attend church due
to illness or other infirmity. This is a wonderful way for those
parishoners
to be a part of the spiritual life at St.Martins.
HELPING
HANDS is a growing group of people who meet monthly or just come on
over whenever it strikes them to help take care of the church property.
They've cleaned out closets, fixed broken sprinklers, cut the grass and
hedges, painted, patched the roof -- you name it, it'll get done by these
enthusiastic folks. This is a great fellowship opportunity, too, lunches
and dinners are often the result of this friendly group's bond. If you
have a talent or just some elbow grease to contribute, sign up in the
Narthex, call the church office or contact us via email. Signing up doesn't
mean you're obligated forever, even one time is appreciated, but try it,
you might just get addicted.
EPISCOPAL
CHURCH WOMEN (ECW)
"Rooted in our Past and Growing into God's Future "
I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth! Isaiah
43:19
"Give peace, O Lord, in all the world; For only in you can
we live in safety."
This
organization was founded in 1871 as the Womens Auxiliary to the
Board of Missions. It continues today to be a strong ministry and outreaching
foundation that is making a difference.
Their call to action:
Literacy: Supporting and creating programs and providing resources
which enable all people to have access to the world of information.
Non-violence: Supporting and creating safe environments where learning
and growth can thrive.
Leadership Training: Empowering individuals to discover their own
gifts for leadership so that they can, in turn, use what they believe
to make a difference.

DAUGHTERS
OF THE KING is an Order for women who are communicants of the Episcopal
Church, or churches in communion with it, or churches who are in the Historic
Episcopate. Members undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of
Prayer and the Rule of Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made
at Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of
prayer, service and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ's Kingdom
and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish.
Purpose
of the Order: "The object of this Order shall be the extension of
Christ's Kingdom through Prayer, Service, and Evangelism."
CURSILLO
is a movement of the Episcopal Church. Its purpose is to help those in
the church understand their individual callings to be Christian
leaders.
The leadership may be exercised in work situations, in the family and
social life, in leisure activities, and within the Church environment.
Leadership, in Cursillo, does not mean power over others, but influence
on others; all of us need to be aware that we can exert a positive
influence
on those around us. The goal of Cursillo is to bring all to Christ. It
helps to renew and deepen Christian commitment. There are opportunities
annually or semi-annually to participate in the Cursillo movement. If
interested, please contact the church office, as openings at the
Three-Day
Weekend retreat are very limited and candidates must state their intentions
well in advance of the dates. The Cursillos
are held at the Duncan Center in Delray
Beach.
DEAF
MINISTRY is an exciting offering that is still in the development
stage. In January 2002, Barbara Gwynn began instructing a small, but
diligent
group in sign language. The 10:30 Sunday service is often signed for
the benefit of visiting members, If you are interested in this exciting,
growing
ministry, please contact the church. We would love to accommodate more
people in need of hearing-inpaired assistance for their worship experience.

BINGO
has been a very successful community outreach at St. Martins for more
than a year. It
is held on Tuesdays, at 12:00 noon, the doors open for Bingo. Early Bird
starts at 1:00 pm and Regular Bingo is at 1:30. Please come out and help
support St. Martins. Particularly since this is such a successful
and fun endeavor, we need more volunteers, if you can volunteer please
call Pat Litzenberger at 561-479-2811 or sign up in the Narthex.
ANNUAL
GOLF TOURNAMENT held for the benefit of St. Martins (date TBA),
is filled with fun and
prizes. Bruce
Hamilton is co-chairing this event. Come
on aboard
and help St. Martins to make this event the great fund
raiser it has been in years past.
HOLIDAY
BOAT PARADE is a great social event that offers the best of community
outreach. Our location on the lovely Intracoastal Waterway plays an excellent
host as the boats parade north on their festive trek. This event is usually
held two Sundays before Christmas each year.
YULTIDE
ON ATLANTIC is a holiday parade for the Pompano Beach community.
St. Martins has a float in the parade, most years, and tosses hundreds
of
candy canes along the Atlantic Blvd. route each with an invitaiton to
join us for worship.
CHRISTMAS
CAROLING at John Knox Village is the perfect way to kick-off the loving
spirit of the season! It is an appreciated and well organized evening
of songs and smiles shared between residents and the St. Martin carolers.
You don't even have to have a great singing voice -- just enthusiasm and
a smile!
